ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) permits the GIS mapping module to share the data it creates, such as when creating Routes or Areas in the GIS module, to be passed to the Routes and Areas forms in the main Incident Commander Pro application. This data transfer is performed by Visual Foxpro ODBC drivers installed by 'Incident Commander Pro' into the ODBC utility found in the Windows operating system. To confirm that these Visual Foxpro ODBC drivers have been installed in Windows go to: Control Panel... (System and Security)... Administrative Tools... Data Sources (ODBC)... ODBC Data Source Administrator. Under the System DSN... System Data Sources tab - there should be two entries in the System Data Sources Table: Name Driver Visual Foxpro Database Microsoft Visual Foxpro Driver Visual Foxpro Tables Microsoft Visual Foxpro Driver Selecting Configure for each of these two entries should display the following settings: Data Source Name: Visual Foxpro Database Description: (empty) Database Type: Free Table directory Path: (empty) Data Source Name: Visual Foxpro Tables Description: (empty) Database Type: Free Table directory Path: (empty) If these two Microsoft Visual Foxpro ODBC drivers are not present they can be downloaded from: http://sartechnology.ca/sartechnology/ST_Downloads.htm (Under the Documents and System files) section or from: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vfoxpro/bb190233.aspx Select the VFPODBC.MSI installer option and then click on the English, German or Spanish link to download the VFPODBC.MSI driver installation package. Running this installation package will install the Visual Foxpro ODBC drivers and place the installed and registered vfpodbc.dll in the C:\Windows\system32 folder. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
